14.04.2009: SUBVERT CUBA PROJECT goes NICARAGUA!
Great news from Nicaragua: Our delivery to this central-american country (around 1000 km from Cuba) had a great success!
read, what Ian, a customer of our skateshop SUBVERT STORE, wrote today (if you need english, email us!)
It was Jan's initiative to help the kids from Nicaragua! Thanks a lot to him and also to Tobi from VivaConAqua, who transported more stuff to Managua! Great Job!

On a trip with Sandro Dias and Red Bull our brazilian team manager Andre Cywinski had also visited Cuba.
He was very impressed by the positive attitudes of the cuban skate scene. Even little gifts made them cry for happiness! They have hardly anything to ride on! Sometimes they even cut decks out of old wooden doors!
So now SUBVERT SKATEBOARDS has started to collect used skatestuff in Europe to send it to Cuba. In order to motivate to donate stuff and to send it to subVert's headquarter in Hamburg, subVert offers attractive discounts for purchases in subVerts online shop "VERTSHOP.eu" on all subVert products. (see below how this works)
Chris Pfanner visited Cuba last winter (as you can read in Playboard magazine) and immediately agreed to patronise the SUBVERT CUBA PROJECT. He said he had never met such a friendly skate scene before.

10.01.08.: the donations are on their way to Havanna or should have arrived there already.
They should pass the customs in this month so that we can hand them out to kids beginning of february!
We look for people who can help us to have media reporting about it, so that in future more people and also companies will be motivated to donate useful stuff.

Mit dem subVert Cuba Project helfen wir den Skatern auf Kuba, an Skatestuff heran zu kommen – und das sogar gratis! Unter anderem aufgrund der Handelsblockade der USA ist es für die Kubaner quasi unmöglich, an Boards heranzukommen. Wenn sie Glück haben, hinterlässt ein Tourist bei seiner Abreise sein mitgebrachtes Skateboard, oder schickt seinen Skatebekanntschaften ein „Care-Paket“. Da das zu selten geschieht, können sie ihrem Hobby bis zu einem halben Jahr lang nicht nachgehen.
Die grösste Schweizer Tagesszeitung 20 MINUTEN schrieb doppelseitig über unser Projekt!

Nachdem der brasilianische subVert Teammanager Andre Cywinski das Land bereiste, und selber den einzigen Skatepark dort barfuss verliess, um den Kids auch sein letztes Paar Skateschuhe zu überlassen, initiierte er das Spendenprojekt. Er war überwältigt vom Spirit der Kubaner – auf so große Dankbarkeit war er selbst in den Favelas Sao Paulos nie gestossen!
In Hamburg sammelt der SUBVERT STORE alten, abgelegten Skatestuff, um ihn über Cuba-Si nach Havanna zu verschiffen. Ca. 100 Decks sind schon zusammengekommen! Die erste Lieferung geht ca. Ende Januar los.
Du kannst ihn entweder per Post zuschicken. Wenn Du von den Rabattten für Spendern profitieren willst, füll das Formular aus (PDF-file), da findest Du auch die Adresse.

Das Projekt wird von vielen Skatern, Companys, Organisationen und Medien unterstützt. Auch Shops haben schon stark zum Erfolg des Projekts beigetragen.
Ein grosser Dank geht raus an: BRIGHT Skateboard tradeshow, Etnies, Vans, B-Project Nürnberg, Attitude Bremen, und vor allen Olli Huber, der weit mehr gesammelt hat als jeder andere!
Subvert Skateboards hat bereits hunderte von Stunden ehrenamtlich in das projekt gesteckt und trotz Finanzknappheit einen vierstelligen Betrag investiert.

10.01.08:
Ein Kubikmeter Spenden (über 100 Boards) erreichten im Oktober Berlin, wurden im November in den Container verpackt, der im Dezember auf die Reise ging und im Januar den Zoll passieren sollte. Im Februar kommt es dann endlich zur Übergabe der Spenden an Kids.
Wir suchen Leute, die helfen können, berichte über das Projekt in die Medien zu bringen (und seien es Blogspots!) damit in Zukunft mehr Leute motiviert sein werden, ihren alten Stuff zu spenden.

Barcelona so get in contact with him..
I think we ran out of boards.. so it would be a bless from
the god of sk8boarding to get some more stuff man...
we mainly need boards (DUHH) and shoes man...
